News / Upcoming Events:
Nov. 11th, 2002:
The Hallowe'en Strange Tongues show was a GREAT success. Our largest show ever, by
the time the lights dimmed and the words began, the Oasis was at standing room only
capacity. Thank you to all that came out and made this first annual Strange Tongues
Hallowe'en Bash a success and thank you to the "wishing to remain anonymous" donator
of all the terrific decorations.
Notable moments include, Aphyd winning the "best death scene" award. Peter Rintoul
(who will be one of our November features) winning the best costume by audience vote for his
medieval monk ensemble. Runners up included Star Trek Girl and the Pirate.
The Strange Tongues crew would like to thank our sponsors for the evening and their
donations to the prize packs:
July 28th, 2002:
Relaunch of the new-and-even-more-improved Strange Tongues website, just in time
for Sunday night's show.
July 17th, 2002:
Things have been busy in the Strange Tongues camp recently,
we've got some great features lined up for the fall with more announcements to come shortly. Currently we are planning
our special Hallowe'en event which feature David Clink and Timothy Carter. The night will dedicated to celebrating
fantasy, science fiction, horror and other dark writing. Open stage performers are encouraged to get involved by reading
works from these genres or dressing up in Hallowe'en garb (read: costumes) for the event.
Also upcoming for the ONE year anniversary of our series
we will be releasing an anthology of works contributed by our past features and favourite open stage regulars. For more
information on this release, drop a line to Burning Effigy Press & Productions at
mail@burningeffigy.com.
Lastly, Strange Tongues will be in hiatus in December 2002
but will return at the usual date and time in January. December, however, offers a special treat. On Sunday December 15th,
Strange Tongues in conjunction with Burning Effigy Press & ihaveasecret.com will throw a launch party for the first book by
Strange Tongues co-founder, monica s. kuebler, and Cynthia Gould. For information on how you can pre-order a copy of the book
(all pre-ordered copies will ship with an exclusive bonus CD) and get an invite to this event email
